Fresh New Look… Now a Fresh New Name
The blog you’ve been waiting for!
She was once nameless and pale, jobless and alone.
She is now full of color and life, music and song, hope and purpose.
She is Named!
With the help of the Freshbox community, we have named the Freshbox delivery van. A huge round of thanks for everyone’s responses! It is our belief it takes a village to make this community successful; we also believe it takes a community to name the Freshbox delivery van. In July we sent a request out to the Universe that we wanted input on what to name our delivery van. Here are some of the awesome honorable mentions:
1. Freshbox Wagon (Thanks, Emily!)
2. Freshwheels (Thanks, Luke!)
3. Van Go (Thanks, Sue!)
4. Boxed Wheels (Thanks, Erik!)
5. The Munchierry Machine (Thanks, Zach!)
These are all great names! But one stood out as a true reflection of the Freshbox team and family:
PANDORA
There are many reasons for Pandora. The most significant is MUSIC. Music is the unifying link in the Freshbox kitchen. It causes us to sing to the tops of our lungs, celebrate joy in life, occupying our minds on those early, early mornings, is the catalyst to great conversation on the line as we tell stories about memories brought on by song. Music is a critical tool in the success of our kitchen and our mission. We are a family – music ties us together.
Pandora.com is our jukebox and it is always playing in the kitchen at Freshbox .Every employee has opportunity throughout the week to listen to their preferred station on a given day. Pandora has been a part of the Freshbox family since the inception of this enterprise; it is as important to us as fresh ciabatta bread. You can count on MC Hammer’s “Can’t touch this”, ACDC rocking hard with “Thunderstruck”, or even a little Mumford and Sons when the GM and the interns get their turn. Mike still hasn’t gotten the chance to listen to Lamb of God or Godsmack for more than ten minutes without everyone complaining of headaches, but maybe someday that time will come with a handy dose of Tylenol and ear plugs. We love music and it only seemed right to name the van Pandora to represent that.
Pandora is Part of the Movement.
Freshbox is very excited to welcome Pandora into the family. She is going to deliver delicious sandwiches to those in need of a fresh new taste, a fresh new inspiration, and a fresh new outlook on life. Pay it forward. Every time Pandora passes underneath Columbus skyscrapers, through your local neighborhood, or to a local recycling bin near you (yes, we recycle), we ask that you remember what Freshbox means; it is not just a van, it is a movement. Freshbox hopes to change the homelessness footprint in Columbus, one person at a time, one meal at a time. Just ask the dozens of people who already Freshbox!
