Partner Profile: Firefly Play Cafe
Firefly has been such a great addition to the Freshbox family. The perfect combination of fun and serenity, their modern indoor play space is geared towards children ages 2-5. While the kids are at play, the parents can relax in the comfy lounge and treat themselves to some coffee and tea complimented by a delicious Freshbox sandwich (you would be surprised at how well coffee goes with a November Turkey sandwich on wheat Ciabatta bread)… Take a break, read a magazine, catch up with your friends and experience Firefly Play Cafe.
What is Firefly? What is your mission?
Firefly– the easiest way to describe us…we’re like a Starbucks with play equipment. We aim to be a place of refuge for parents. That place where you know you can go hang out with your friends and not worry if your kids are too loud. It is our hope that Moms and dads come and meet other people in similar life stages and share experiences and encourage one another. We are here for the community. We want to help support as many causes as possible and more importantly support the community who uses our space regularly.
Why the name Firefly? Where did you get the idea to start this business?
The name Firefly—when my business partner and I were trying to decide on a name..we were trying to find something to fit a nature theme and couldn’t settle on anything. My then 5 year old chimes in as if he’s sick of hearing us discuss it and can’t take it any longer…he says in an oh geez kind of way “why don’t you just name it Firefly?” !!!! It was perfect…the name stuck immediately, and it came from a child…couldn’t have been any better. The concept came when I was in Los Angeles with my kids. We saw a similar concept there and knew Columbus with hot hot summers and long winters needed a space like this.
How long has Firefly existed?
We opened July 5th, 2010… so just over a year in existence now.
Why did you partner with Freshbox?
We partnered with Freshbox because it too was a business with a conscience. The concept was incredible to us and we HAD to support it any way we could.
What has Firefly accomplished recently that’s made you proud?
A recent accomplishment that has made us proud is being featured in Columbus Monthly’s Best of Columbus issue this year!! Yahoo!!
If someone’s interested in supporting Firefly, what can they do to help?
How can one help support our business?? Come, bring your children, and if you like what we have to offer…tell everyone you know…oh and while you’re here…eat a tasty sandwich.
What would you do with 200 Freshbox oreos?
200 Oreos…Chrissy and I would put ours together to Build a wicked tall oreo tower…
