Two Truths and a Lie

Have you ever played two truths and a lie?  Get to know the Freshbox team by guessing which of the three statements about each of us is a lie and which two are the truth.  Check your answers by scrolling down once you’ve got your predictions ready.

Mike, Sandwich Master
1. Mike was a drummer in a thrash band back when people still listened to cassettes.  Despite not having ever taken formal lessons, he rocked out at several local restaurants and clubs and got shout-outs on the radio.
2. Mike loves dogs and plans to adopt one as soon as he gets his own place.
3. Growing up, Mike maintained several aquariums in his house. He considers himself an expert on keeping fish alive and healthy.  If your fish are floating upside down, stop by the Freshbox kitchen and Mike would be happy to tell you how to adjust their feeding schedules and pH levels.

Joe, Chief Sandwich Officer
1. Joe was a counselor for two years at an Asthma Camp called Camp Ihduhopi in Minnesota.
2. Among his past entrepreneurial endeavors, Joe has worked as an amateur magician and provided chauffeur services to retired ladies.
3. Joe sings Shubert’s Ave Maria, a capella, at family weddings and funerals.

Youmeakia, Kitchen Master
1. Youmeakia weighs 120 pounds even though she’s had 8 kids and spent 17 years working in fast food.
2. Youmeakia loves to write and is currently searching for a publisher for two novels.  When she’s not writing, she’s doing crosswords to boost her already-well rounded vocabulary.
3. Youmeakia spends her weekends in Columbus hitting up the karaoke nights at local clubs.  She’s won several contests for her great voice and does an awesome rendition of Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable.”

Tania, Fresh Intern
1. Tania and fourteen friends once got lost for 18 hours in an over-sized canoe on a piranha-infested river.  They survived by eating Doritos and peanut butter and covering themselves in a tarp.
2. Tania likes pizza so much that she eats it on nearly every special occasion (her birthday, Valentine’s day, etc).  She prefers it plain so that she can savor the flavors of the mozzarella and tomato sauce.
3. One night when Tania was returning home on a bus, it got robbed at gunpoint by 6 masked men.  They stole many items from other passengers but didn’t take Tania’s laptop, wallet, cellphone, or camera.

Kelly, Chief Sandwich Ambassador
1. Kelly has visited all 50 states by the age of 18.
2. Kelly is an avid tap dancer.  She’s tapped since she was 4 years old and still likes to find a good hardwood floor every now and then to dance on.
3. Kelly is fluent in Spanish and Croatian.

Ephram, Sandwich Master
1. Ephram has never seen a full episode of The Simpsons.
2. Ephram is a morning person so we can count on him to add some energy to the kitchen at 7am when the rest of us are clinging to our coffee cups.
3. Both of Ephram’s daughters have the middle name “Marie” in honor of the fact that his mom’s favorite singer was Teena Marie.  He’s hoping that they’ll grow up to have the soulful vocals of their namesake.

Ryan G, Fresh Intern
1. Ryan Excels in school, and has been on the Dean’s list all four years during his time at Capital University. He has only gotten one “B” in his collegiate career.
2. Ryan was first team All-OAC this year playing football for Capital University. He totaled over 1,000 yards for the season is one of Capital’s leading receivers of all time.
3. Ryan lived in Russia when he was six years old and has traveled the world from Australia to Kenya.  He has ridden an elephant and pet a kangaroo.

Ryan A, Fresh Intern
1. Ryan once had to take gymnastics classes for a whole year.  He attributes his current flexibility in sports to the time he spent on the mat when he was younger.
2. Ryan is an insomniac who loves hip hop music.
3. In his free time, Ryan works on building his already-massive toy car collection.  He’s traveled as far as Michigan to find rare cars that caught his eye.

Keyetta, Sandwich Master
1. Keyetta has taken ten years of ballet and performed in a local production of The Nutcracker.
2. Keyetta grew up on a farm in Mississippi and used to spend her play time jumping off fences, roofs, and other high surfaces.
3. Despite having family members that work every day in the auto industry, Keyetta still doesn’t know where the car oil goes, or which piece of machinery under the hood is the engine.

Answers:

Mike
Lie: (2) Mike love dogs and plans to adopt one as soon as he gets his own place.
Truth: Says Mike, “I’ve got a cat named Kiki.  I’ve had her for 13 or 14 years.  A friend called me on the phone one day and said she found a couple of kittens living outside.  Next thing I know she’s at my door asking whether I wanted a cat.  She gave me a kitten, a  litter box and a bowl, and that was it.”

Joe
Lie: (1) Joe was a counselor for two years at an Asthma Camp called Camp Ihduhopi in Minnesota.
Truth:  Joe was actually a camper at Camp Ihduhopi for four years.

Youmeakia
Lie: (3) Youmeakia spends her weekends in Columbus hitting up the karaoke nights at local clubs.
Truth:  Youmeakia describes her voice as “absolutely horrible.”  She does not win karaoke contests.

Tania
Lie: (2) Tania really likes pizza.  She prefers it plain so that she can savor the flavors of the mozzarella and tomato sauce.
Truth:  Tania really is obsessed with good pizza, but she refuses to consume it if it has fewer than 2 toppings.  Her favorite is Clever Crow’s harvest pizza with sausage.

Kelly
Lie: (3) Kelly is fluent in Spanish and Croatian.
Truth:  Kelly is not fluent in either language, although she does know some Spanish thanks to a trip to Nicaragua that she took last year.

Ephram
Lie: (2) Ephram is a morning person.
Truth: Ephram does not function at peak energy capacity until 2:30pm.  But when he’s on, he’s on.

Ryan G
Lie: (1) Ryan Excels in school, and has been on the Dean’s list all four years during his time at Capital University.
Truth:  While Ryan’s grades aren’t in the 2.0 range, his focus on athletics and extracurriculars means that they’re not quite a 4.0 either.

Ryan A
Lie: (3) In his free time, Ryan works on building his already-massive toy car collection.
Truth:  Ryan prefers driving cars to collecting their miniature version.

Keyetta
Lie: (3) Despite having family members that work every day in the auto industry, Keyetta still doesn’t know where the car oil goes, or which piece of machinery under the hood is the engine.
Truth:  Keyetta knows way more about cars than your average non-mechanic.  She replaces her own oil and knows how to replace brakes and fix transmissions, too.
